Total Hip Replacement

This surgery replaces your damaged hip joint with implants that move like the ball and socket of a healthy hip. A total hip replacement can restore your hip function and reduce your pain.

Joint Replacement Procedures We Offer

At Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic, we use minimally invasive (arthroscopic) surgery for a quicker recovery. Regardless of the type of procedure you need, your joint will be made from high-quality materials. And during your surgery, we’ll make sure that the new joint fits in well with your muscles and ligaments.

Joint replacement procedures we offer include:

  • Full knee replacement, which replaces the whole knee joint using an artificial joint made of high-grade metal and plastic
  • Partial knee replacement, which only replaces one part of your knee, such as the kneecap (patella), inside (medial) part, or outside (lateral) part of your knee
  • Hip replacement, to remove the damaged hip joint and replace it with an artificial joint attached to your thighbone and pelvis
  • Anterior hip replacement, an alternative procedure that results in faster recovery, where surgeons work between the muscles instead of cutting them
  • Shoulder replacement, to remove the damaged shoulder joint and replace it with a new joint that attaches to your upper arm and shoulder bone

Though the vast majority of our joint replacements are successful, we also offer joint revision surgery, which allows surgeons to make changes if there are problems with the replacement.

Total Knee Replacement

This procedure restores function to a severely damaged knee. Most commonly, it is used to repair a knee that has been damaged by arthritis. During the procedure, the surgeon replaces the damaged portions of the knee with artificial parts. These parts consist of a metal femoral component, a metal tibial component and a plastic spacer. A small plastic patellar component may also be used.
