Laparoscopic hernia repair uses tiny incisions to access and repair the hernia. This minimizes your discomfort, lowers your risk of complications and reduces your recovery time, getting you back on your feet quickly and safely.

What is Laparoscopic Hernia Repair?

During your laparoscopic hernia repair surgery, your surgeon will make three small incisions — one near your belly button and two in your lower abdomen. These incisions will allow your surgeon to repair the hernia in your lower abdomen or groin. If you have a bilateral hernia (one hernia on each side of your pubic bone), both hernias can be repaired using the same three incisions.

Although laparoscopic hernia repair is appropriate for most people, your surgeon will conduct a thorough examination to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

After Your Procedure

We want you to be comfortable after your surgery. Most patients take pain medications for two to three days after the procedure and can return to light activity immediately. You can resume strenuous activity or exercise after about four weeks.
