Endoscopy

Endoscopic procedures allow your gastroenterologist to see clear images of your organs and body parts and treat a range of conditions.

If you or a loved one needs an endoscopic procedure, you can rest assured that the experienced team at Rutland Regional will provide the best care using the latest, least invasive techniques. Endoscopic procedures use a flexible tube with a lighted end called an endoscope to allow your gastroenterologist to see clear images of your organs and body parts and treat a range of conditions.

Our skilled staff use state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose and treat a range of common and complex digestive conditions, such as diverticulitis, Barrett’s syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeds, and all types of inflammatory bowel disease. We perform a full range of outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including:

  • Colonoscopy
  • Upper intestinal endoscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Feeding tube insertion (percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy, or PEG)
  • Lung biopsies
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

This is a label given to certain conditions that cause problems with your gastrointestinal tract. With IBD, your intestines become irritated and inflamed. This gets worse over time. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are the most common forms of IBD.
