The Lifeline System: Safety, Peace of Mind & Independence

At Rutland Regional we understand that people want to maintain their independence and stay in their own home, even as they get older. Lifeline: Medical Alert Systems, formerly Philips Lifeline, is the #1 personal emergency response system in the US and allows you to do just that.

The Lifeline system offers peace of mind to you and your family, ensuring that if the unexpected happens, such as a fall or a medical emergency, you have access to help in minutes – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Who is Lifeline for?

The Lifeline program may be for you or a loved one who

  • Is elderly and wants to remain independent in their own home
  • Worries about emergencies
  • Has a medical condition
  • Lives alone, or is alone for part of the day

What exactly is Lifeline?

Lifeline is an emergency alert system that consists of the following:

  • A small pendant you can wear as a wristband or around your neck
  • An in-home communicator with two-way communication capability
  • A 24-hour/365 day Response Center staffed with professionally trained staff to answer your call and determine the level of your emergency.

If you need help for any reason, press your small, waterproof pendant button. This sends an emergency message to your communicator and live associate from our Response Center will be connected to your home.

We have your medical history, address, physician’s name and list of responders (friends, family or neighbors prepared to come to your assistance). There is no need for lengthy explanations.

Our associate will contact a neighbor, loved one, or emergency services based on your preference and will follow up to confirm that help has arrived.

What if I fall and lose consciousness before I can press my pendant?

Lifeline now has an AutoAlert option, which means you can get help in two ways:

  • By pushing your AutoAlert button yourself
  • Through AutoAlert’s automatic call for help, which will occur if it detects that you have fallen.

Note: There is an additional charge for the AutoAlert option.

Does Lifeline need to be connected to a phone line?

No, you do not need a phone line.

Note: Wireless communicators are available for an additional cost.

Does Lifeline require a contract?

The contract is month-to-month, but there is no long-term contract required. You can cancel the Lifeline service at any time by simply returning the equipment. There is a one-time activation fee and a monthly charge.

Why should I get Lifeline through Rutland Regional and not through Lifeline directly?

When you get your Lifeline system through Rutland Regional, we will arrange to have a friendly technician install your system and provide personalized instruction on how to use it. Should you experience any difficulties with your lifeline service, we will arrange for any necessary repairs or replacements.
