Due to COVID-19, Bridges & Beyond requires masking for both volunteer drivers and clients while in the car. Also, volunteers are all required to be vaccinated. Questions? Call 802.747.3710.
The Bridges & Beyond program offers transportation services to qualified patients living in Rutland County for the following:
Bridges & Beyond ride services are provided by volunteers who have been trained and screened by the hospital. While Bridges & Beyond tries to accommodate all requests, our ability to do so is limited by volunteer availability, and priority is given to medical appointments.
Our volunteer drivers provide transportation to and from medical appointments as well as rides for other activities, depending on availability. We also transport clients out of Rutland County if they are seeking medical treatment or consultation at a hospital or affiliated medical office.
We provide ride services to adults. Our volunteers may provide minimal physical assistance to our clients on a case-by-case basis.
To become and Bridges & Beyond client, you need to be a resident of Rutland county and complete an application. You can download the client application now or call 802.747.3710 and a copy will be mailed. After reviewing your application, our staff will be in touch to inform you of next steps.
The Bridges & Beyond program is free to our clients. We discourage “tips” to your volunteer driver; however, donations to the Bridges & Beyond program are welcomed and appreciated, as they help support the continued availability of this FREE service. Donations are tax-deductible and may be mailed to Bridges & Beyond, Rutland Regional Medical Center, 160 Allen St., Rutland, VT 05701, or you can ask your driver to give them to us on your behalf.
Because volunteers staff our program, our services are limited to the availability of our drivers. There may be times when we must limit the number of rides and miles traveled per individual. For example, if you need to go to an appointment five days a week, it is possible we may ask you to arrange other means of transportation for two of those days, and we will try to provide for the other three.
To request a ride, please call the Bridges & Beyond office at 802.747.3710 or email us at BridgesAndBeyond@rrmc.org. Please do not call a volunteer directly unless specifically told to do so by the volunteer or Bridges & Beyond program staff.
While there is never a guarantee that service will be provided, it is much more likely that a request can be met if we have at least several days notice.
Our staff will notify you when a volunteer driver has been assigned for a particular trip. Don’t assume a driver is available until you receive confirmation from Bridges & Beyond staff. If we notify you by voice message, we will ask you to call us back to confirm that you received the message and that the ride is still needed.
Bridges & Beyond volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide service. We ask that you respect them by refraining from eating, smoking, etc. while in their vehicles.
If a scheduled trip or visit with a Bridges & Beyond volunteer needs to be canceled, please contact the Bridges & Beyond office as soon as possible.
For questions or registration, please call us at 802.747.3710.
