About Me

Kira Balkcom graduated with honors from the University of Vermont Medical School in 2012. She recently returned to Vermont after completing her residency program in obstetrics and gynecology at the Christiana Care Health System in Newark, DE. She has a particular interest in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, as well as family planning.

Dr. Balkcom is looking forward to providing a full range of services for women in all stages of life, and will be seeing patients at both the Rutland and East Dorset locations.

OB/GYN is such a wonderful specialty because we have the opportunity to care for women through all of life′s stages, accompanying them through the reproductive years and then the transition to menopause. Preventative care can be so powerful, but we also have the skill set to intervene surgically when needed and have a significant impact on a woman’s quality of life.
