The Consumer Health Library is available for the community, patients and families to use. It is equipped with books, two computers with Internet access, specialized medical databases for searching for information, and health-related CDs and DVD’s. The Librarian can assist you in finding information about a new diagnosis, medications you are on, herbal or complementary therapies, or healthy lifestyle choices.
We’re Unique! In many hospitals, the Consumer Health Library is separate from the library used by doctors, nurses, and employees. At Rutland Regional, we all share the same space in the Library. This means that several types of visitors may be in the library at the same time. You are all welcome and should feel comfortable to browse, study and use the computers.
Please help each library user have the space and privacy needed when dealing with matters of health.
Just OUTSIDE the library door, there is a cart with “pleasure reading” books – feel free to help yourself and not worry about returning items. “Ye Olde Book Shop” cart operates on donations of used books and is available 24 hours a day for patients, families, and visitors.
We hope you find what you need on the Library website, with our useful handouts, recommended websites, etc. If you are looking for a book on a particular topic, use the Search the Catalog link to see what we have here in the library, then stop by for a visit. Please call ahead if you would like some help with research on health topics, to be sure the librarian is on site. Call 747-3777 to plan a visit.
The Library can provide you with information on almost any health topic, but we have especially strong collections in the following areas:
• Dealing with Grief & Loss • Cancer • Caregiving • Healthy Lifestyles
The materials in the Cancer Resource Area were purchased with the help of the Fair Haven Eagles Club, and by memorial contributions.
You can search our online catalog (make Online Catalog a LINK to LOOK IT UP!)
